About MoveCompare

Who is was launched in 2021 with the intention of providing a transparent comparison service for those moving home and those who want to move essential home products like mortgages, insurance and energy. We’re best known for offering an independent and impartial comparison estate agency services. As an insurance intermediary we do a whole lot more besides, helping customers find the most appropriate product for their needs. We provide a comparison of the price, cover and features of estate agency, mortgages, insurance and energy services.

We don’t advise you or provide a recommendation but we provide clear information so that you can go on to purchase a product that meets your needs.

How does Compare the Market make money?

We make money when we find our customers a new deal on their household finances. For example, each time someone buys an insurance product or switches their gas or electricity tariff, having found their new supplier through us, we get paid a fee. See the table below for more details. The service is free to use and the fee we receive does not affect the way we rank the products. We always order results from lowest to highest price for you.

Home insurance The insurance provider pays us a flat fee for every policy which is started after being bought via MoveCompare.
Life insurance When you buy a policy via MoveCompare the insurance provider pays a commission amount based on a percentage of your total premium..
Over 50s life insurance When you buy a policy via Compare the Market the insurance provider pays a flat fee to our partner Assured Futures, who in turn pay us a % of this commission.
Accident, sickness and unemployment insurance When you buy a policy via Compare the Market the insurance provider pays a percentage commission from the total premium to our partner Assured Futures, who in turn pay us a % of this commission.
Money :
Mortgages (online) MoveCompare the Market receive a share of the fee that is paid to Koodoo when customers click through to the provider or complete a Mortgage application online
Mortgages (offline/advised) MoveCompare receive a % of the commission that our recommended broker.
Energy The provider pays us via our partner, Energyhelpline a flat fee for every fuel tariff which is started after being switched via Compare the Market.

Who does MoveCompare work with?

We work with most of the UK's top providers to find you great deals. Our searches don't include every single provider in the market – a very small number opt out of all comparison sites, or some of the services we offer and others do not meet the strict partner criteria we use to protect our customers.

For electricity and gas tariff comparison, we work with the majority of energy suppliers that you can switch through us. We also give customers the option to see a wider view of the market. Some energy suppliers choose for example not to make their tariffs available through comparison sites. Therefore, we cannot switch you to all the tariffs available.

We regularly check that all our direct partners are regulated, however, if you wish to check the insurance provider you are dealing with is regulated (for example, by the Financial Conduct Authority, or Prudential Regulation Authority, if applicable). You can do this by checking the Financial Services Register on the Financial Conduct Authority's website.

Can I trust the results you provide?

While MoveCompare does get paid a fee from providers, generally when a transaction is made, this doesn’t affect the way we rank products in your results page. When you enter your details into our site, we’ll present you with quotes and deals that meet your demands and needs. Your results are always ordered from the cheapest to the most expensive, before you’re able to use our filters to suit your needs.

We work with dozens of providers, across a wide variety of product types to help you find the right deal, but we can’t guarantee that every provider and offer available is covered. However, we compare quotes and deals with big, medium and smaller providers, to offer you fantastic choice with little effort. By using our comparison service, you’ll save lots of time and can still get a great deal.

How do you protect my details?

Protection of your details is of highest importance to us. We are continually focusing on ensuring your data that you provide us is secure. So you can compare results from a wide selection of insurance providers, once you have completed entering your details into our site we will pass these details onto our partners so they can calculate results for you. We then display the results, ordered by lowest price first and also displaying a summary of the key policy features. When you select ‘More details’ we supply further details of what is included as standard, what is not included but available to add and what this policy doesn’t come with. Further information is available on the provider’s website. When you select ‘Go to insurer’ the insurance provider will have your details, you need to check your details and the policy information before purchase.  Some of our product comparison services are provided by partners. Some products such as broadband and money products do not require you to enter your details in order to compare different packages.

How will you contact me?

When you use our service, you will receive an email confirming your results. It's straight forward, we're here to find you a great value deal – nothing more, nothing less – which is why you'll only hear from us through the channels you select. You can choose for us to automatically get you quotes when your insurance is due for renewal and you can sign up to alerts when you could be overpaying on your energy. You can also choose to let us keep you up to date with ways to save, product news and exciting information about our rewards.

Will providers contact me?

With some of the comparison services we offer, you will have the option during the journey to select whether you would like to receive further communications from our partners (e.g. insurance providers, product providers or brokers) to discuss your quote further. Otherwise, we will not pass any of your information to our partners for marketing purposes and we have contractual arrangements in place with all our partners which prevent them using your information for this purpose. If you click through to our any of our partners’ websites, you will be subject to their Privacy Policy in relation to any communications you will receive from them which we recommend you read carefully.
